Flash Flood Watch
Effective: Friday, October 12, 2018 - 6:00am to Saturday, October 13, 2018 - 6:00am
* Kauai and Niihau.
* Through late tonight
* Deep tropical moisture will spread northward over Kauai and Niihau today, with conditions becoming unstable as an upper level trough approaches from the west. This is expected to lead to the development of showers and thunderstorms across the western islands this afternoon. Light winds over the area will be supportive of slow moving showers and storms, which could lead to heavy rainfall and flash flooding. The most likely time frame for the heavy rainfall and potential flooding appears to be this afternoon into early this evening.
A Flash Flood Watch means heavy rain leading to flash flooding is possible.
Unmonitored lands and waters in the impact area described in the alert will also be impacted.
If conditions change before expiration or the event needs to be extended, an update or cancellation will be issued from Hawaii Beach Safety Website.
