...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR EAST FACING SHORES OF THE BIG ISLAND MAUI MOLOKAI AND OAHU...

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR SOUTH FACING SHORES OF ALL HAWAIIAN ISLANDS...

.Surf will gradually decline along east facing shores of the Big Island, Maui, Molokai and Oahu on Thursday as the easterly swell from former Hurricane Sergio fades. Surf will continue to rise tonight along south facing shores as a new long-period, south- southwest swell peaks overnight. Surf will gradually lower Thursday through Saturday.

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM HST THURSDAY...

* SURF...5 to 8 feet along south facing shores of all Hawaiian Islands. 5 to 8 feet along east facing shores of Big Island, Maui, Molokai and Oahu.

* TIMING...South swell will peak tonight, then slowly decrease Thursday through Saturday. East swell will gradually decline Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Moderate...Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous. Localized wave runup may cause beach erosion during high tide.
Description:

A High Surf Advisory is issued when waves reach threshold criteria for a particular island and shoreline.

Warning Instruction:
Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.

Unmonitored lands and waters in the impact area described in the alert will also be impacted.

If conditions change before expiration or the event needs to be extended, an update or cancellation will be issued from Hawaii Beach Safety Website.
