Flash Flood Warning


Effective: Wednesday, September 12, 2018 - 11:35am to 1:30pm

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 130 PM HST FOR THE ISLAND OF MAUI IN MAUI COUNTY... At 1130 AM HST...radar indicated heavy rain continuing along the slopes of Haleakala with peak rates of 3 to 4 inches per hour. Maui County Emergency Management reported that Ulaino Road and Waikoloa Road near Hana are closed. Low water crossings along Piilani Highway will become impassable, especially from Waiopae to Kipahulu and including Pahihi Gulch and Kalepa Gulch. Heavy rain also continues over the northern slopes of the West Maui Mountains. This warning includes the entire island of Maui. This warning may need to be extended beyond 130 PM HST if heavy rain persists.

A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring in streams, roads, and low lying areas. Move to higher ground now. Do not cross fast flowing water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don`t drown.

Unmonitored lands and waters in the impact area described in the alert will also be impacted.
