Flood Advisory

Effective: Tuesday, February 13, 2018 - 11:47pm to Wednesday, February 14, 2018 - 2:45am

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood advisory for... The island of Oahu in Honolulu County

* Until 245 AM HST

* At 1140 PM HST, radar indicated heavy showers moving over Oahu from the south, with the rain especially heavy over the area from the airport to Pearl City. Rain was falling at a rate of one to two inches per hour, and was spreading eastward toward Honolulu. Verl low visibility in heavy rain will impact portions of town.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to... Honolulu, Kalihi, Aiea, Halawa, Waimalu, and Salt Lake. This advisory may need to be extended beyond 245 AM HST if heavy rain persists.

A Flood Advisory, previously called an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory, means nuisance flooding is occurring or imminent.

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action. Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don`t drown.

Unmonitored lands and waters in the impact area described in the alert will also be impacted.

If conditions change before expiration or the event needs to be extended, an update or cancellation will be issued from Hawaii Beach Safety Website.
