Shark Warning


Effective: Monday, February 12, 2018 - 5:05pm to Tuesday, February 13, 2018 - 9:05am


Shark Warning Signs are being posted at Makaha Beach. Ocean Safety Officials are warning the public by Jet Ski in the Water and Megaphone announcements on land and will stay on Duty in Makaha Beach area until Dark and reassess situation tomorrow morning.


A shark(s) has/ have been sighted in the area, the sighting(s) has/have been confirmed by public safety officials, and the animal(s) behavior and/or size may represents a threat to people in the water.

Affected Monitored Beaches:

Unmonitored lands and waters in the impact area described in the alert will also be impacted.

If conditions change before expiration or the event needs to be extended, an update or cancellation will be issued from Hawaii Beach Safety Website.
