Flood Advisory

Effective: Friday, October 13, 2017 - 2:28am to 5:30am

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood advisory for... The island of Oahu in Honolulu County

* Until 530 AM HST

* At 224 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain along the Koolaus. Rain was falling at a rate of an inch to inch and a half per hour. The heavy rain was nearly stationary.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to... Hauula, Waimanalo, Kaneohe Marine Base, Palolo, Ahuimanu, Kailua, Manoa, Maunawili, Kaneohe, Waikane, Waiahole and Kahuku. This advisory may need to be extended beyond 530 AM HST if heavy rain persists.

A Flood Advisory, previously called an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory, means nuisance flooding is occurring or imminent.

Warning Instruction:
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action. Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don`t drown.

Unmonitored lands and waters in the impact area described in the alert will also be impacted.

If conditions change before expiration or the event needs to be extended, an update or cancellation will be issued from Hawaii Beach Safety Website.
